Comment to DM automation checklist using ManyChat

ManyChat software allows you to reach users across social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, SMS, and Telegram.

Specifically, this checklist will show you how to set up an Instagram DM automation.

This means you can have someone comment a specific word on an Instagram post, and when they do, you trigger an instant comment reply and a direct message (DM) on Instagram to begin a conversation or send them a link.

For example, you would say on the post “Comment the word ‘Guide’ to get free access” and when they do you set up an automation through ManyChat that sends them the direct landing page to subscribe to your list and get that free guide you promised.

To get started, below is a video tutorial on the automation process, followed by a checklist to guide you through the setup, ticking off the steps as you go.

Tech Set up Automation Checklist:

1)Set up automation rules

  • Login to ManyChat

  • Click Automation> New Keyword> Message Contains> Keyword> Channel> Create

  • Create a new reply> Choose from available options> Save.

2)Send a message e.g text

  • Click the bracket() Icon to attach a personalized feature e.g first name

  • Add button> Title> Choose action> Done

You can do more such as add a video, delay, image, audio, etc

  • Click “Live”

The Comment Reply Automation.

1)Add a new trigger

  • Choose action> select from available options e.g All Posts or Reels

  • Search for a post> A video, text image, etc

  • Click Continue

2)Start your DM automation

  • Select specific keywords> Comment include or exclude

  • Create random comment replies> Save> Update> Live.

Note:

You can set up different automations on ManyChats so remember to label them properly so you can identify which automation it is.

You will also need to connect ManyChat to your Instagram before you can set up the automation.
